HISTORY
Help Us Tell Downtown’s Story!
Downtown Redwood Falls has always been the heart of our community. From bustling general stores and family-run restaurants to shoe shops, hardware stores, and gathering places, each storefront has a story. These stories shaped the lives of families, neighbors, and visitors — and they deserve to be remembered.
The Historical Plaque Project
Discover Downtown is launching a Historical Plaque Project to honor and preserve the businesses that made an impact on our community. Plaques will be placed on buildings throughout downtown, highlighting their unique history and connecting today’s residents and visitors to the people and businesses of the past.
Each plaque will feature a QR code that can be scanned while walking downtown. The QR code links directly to a web page with expanded stories, photographs, and details about that building’s history. It creates an interactive experience that lets people discover the history of Redwood Falls right on the sidewalk.
How You Can Help
We need your memories, stories, and photos to make this project a reality.
-
Do you remember what businesses used to be downtown?
-
Do you have photos of old storefronts, employees, or events?
-
Did your family operate a business, or do you know someone who did?
Your story could be the missing piece we need to complete the picture. By sharing, you help ensure our community’s history isn’t lost to time but instead lives on for future generations to explore and enjoy.
Fill out the form on this page or contact us today to share your memories, photos, or information. Together, we can bring downtown’s history to life!
